The Many Faces of Home Remodeling; Transform Your Home as Needed

Basements

One of the most fascinating things about home ownership is the idea of remodeling. As the king of your castle, you can remodel it any time you want and create any type of atmosphere you wish. The idea of remodeling is often off-putting to people because they worry that their entire home will be dysfunctional for weeks, maybe even months. Fortunately this is not the case. Let’s take a look at several good reasons to remodel and quick fixes for common issues.

Get Out of that Rut

You see the same four walls in each room in your home every single day. The same kitchen, the same cabinets, the same counter tops, every day. Sometimes doing something as simple as painting or replacing cabinets or counter tops will help you get out of the rut of feeling stuck in the same old house all the time.

Consider completely renovating one room at a time to keep from overwhelming your bank account. Small changes made over time make a big difference in the look and feel of a home. And they’ll keep you from feeling stuck and unsatisfied in your own home.

Small Bedrooms

The most common fix for small bedrooms is to build an addition. Adding onto your home opens a lot of doors for home improvement options. Another fix for a small bedroom is to knock out a wall to the adjoining room. This option works perfectly if the neighboring room is empty and relatively unused. If you’re a DIY fanatic, don’t begin this type of work on your own without discussing weight-bearing walls with a construction professional.

Not Enough Closet Space

Creating space within a space is often difficult, but with the right designer, it’s very feasible. An amazing designer closet may be built in a relatively small amount of space.

Small Bathroom

Several ideas come to mind when dealing with a small bathroom. You can downsize existing furniture pieces, replace a tub with a shower unit, remodel the closet, or do a variety of other things to make better use of the space you have. You could also knock down a wall to borrow space from an adjoining room.

Old Kitchen

Old appliances, counter tops, and cabinets make your kitchen feel very dated. Old appliances also increase energy bills when compared to today’s newer, more energy efficient models. New cabinets or cabinet facings help breathe new life into an old looking kitchen.

Remodeling for You

The primary thing to keep in mind when you decide to remodel your home is; remodel it for you. Don’t worry about what other people will think about the hot tub in the kitchen, if that’s what you want, go for it. That example was probably a little over the top, but I hope it helped get my point across.
